This time of year makes me realize how fortunate I am. Maine Outdoors has become a successful business that I enjoy working at every day. I have clients that I like to spend time with and best of all; a good part of the year is spent outside in a place that I love. I am always grateful when one of you reminds me how beautiful this place is and how fortunate I am to be able to work here. How many folks can say that they see eagles or ospreys close up on at least half of their work days each year? Or get to be along with a child on their first time in a canoe or when they catch their first fish?
Just as amazing is where we have been able to live and raise our family. We have a spectacular view down across the field and out to the backside of the hills along the coast. Today when I returned from the post office there were about 30 turkeys staring at me from across the street. There is a lot to love about living in small town rural Maine and the wildlife that we coexist with every day is a big part of it for me.
Finally I am amazed at the great discussions that I am privileged to be part of in the policy arena as part of the winter half of my business. Just yesterday at a Board meeting of the Maine Tourism Association. We heard a presentation on the lack of maintenance that is going on with the states bridges and roads and what needs to be done to get them caught up. I enjoy the quality of the conversation and the importance of the issues that I get to discuss. I hope that each of you feels as fortunate about your lives as I do mine. Merry Christmas to each and every one of you.
