I am right in the middle of a very busy stretch where even an afternoon off is unusual. Mostly striper fishing but enough other trips to keep it interesting. In fact this morning I will be on a family canoe trip for a few hours and am looking forward to paddling a canoe. I have been treated to almost continuous wildlife sightings over the last week from a mink on the bank to eagles sitting close by and watching us fish. The osprey numbers in the Saint George near Thomaston Harbor are impressive. I counted 20 one afternoon all hovering above what must be large schools of herring in the river. They dive frequently and are amazingly successful at catching fish.
The striper fishing continues to be excellent with the occasional off tide. I had one of those tides yesterday afternoon, the family on board caught only 3 fish after a morning that was very good. Interesting I had only one fly caster in the evening and her goal was actually a scenic boat ride but I am sure that she had over 10 fish only fishing once in a while. I guess that at some level it is still fishing and I am not really in control.
