Bass Fishing

My morning started off innocently enough, I planned to sneak out onto the water for an hour or two and then return to my desk and some work done. As soon as the boat was hooked to the Sequoia the office telephone rang. A nice couple from Florida really wanted to spend some time fishing today. What could I say the weather was perfect, I had already gotten all of the equipment ready and was set to spend the morning on the water.

My answer was of course; we arranged to meet in a half an hour and spend the morning casting for bass. After a quick trip up Saint George River between Seven Tree and Round Ponds the fishing started. Several perch at first; actually a good number of spawning white perch and a yellow or two. Then the bass started, steadily for the rest of the morning with a few big ones including one largemouth of well over 5 pounds.

Aside from the breeze and me getting a hook buried in my thumb (occupational hazard) a perfect outing. Off of the water later than I planned and behind at the office but absolutely delighted to be back sharing the Maine Outdoors with clients. Wish you had been there!
