This fall and the fall before I had the chance to introduce some first time ever hunters to grouse and woodcock hunting. One at Libby Camps and here in Union I recently took Sharon Kitchens food writer with the Portland Press Herald on her first ever hunt.
Clearly there is a new interest in hunting and it includes retired folks and young women. Sharon is interested in hunting as an aspect of locally grown natural food which to be honest I had never thought about and she is right. As a complete beginner she has some of the details differently than I think of them. She also caught me calling Rocky my English Pointer “Rocket” all morning.
