Nice morning on the salt!

I have been hearing rumors of stripers in the Saint George and after a great morning on the Kennebec with Captain George Harris on Tuesday I was pretty excited to give it a try. The good news is that yes there are a few the bad news is that for the moment it is like the last few summers the fish are spotty and take a lot of effort to find.

There is a really bright spot though and that is the mackerel are here in excellent numbers in the lower river. I caught a few everywhere that I made a real effort this morning. So family fishing trips for mackerel are on!

I can also report that there were good numbers of harbor porpoises and seals around and the young eagle was out of the nest and hopping from branch to branch on the trip back to the harbor. No matter what the fishing is like there are always plenty of things to see.
