Orvis Guides Rendezvous

I spent the last few days traveling to and from Manchester, VT to attend the Orvis Endorsed Guides Rendezvous, like last time it was an excellent learning opportunity. I always enjoy visiting with other guides and meeting professionals in the same business from all over the east is very productive for me.

We spent two days in a series of meetings and presentations on the company and its culture. For me the highlight was getting to tour the rod manufacturing facility and learn that in reality every fly rod is hand made in Vermont. I have used a ton of fishing rods over the years and honestly had never given the production process any thought. So seeing the process first hand and watching first the blanks and eventually the rods being made was an eye opener. I will be more careful in the future with those hand crafted rods.
