Turned the corner toward spring

There are birds singing in the mornings when we walk, chickadees and a titmouse or two occasionally a cardinal.  The sun comes up just a little further north on the horizon each morning; the difference from where it came up in December is now noticeable. From just south of Spruce Mountain to well north of Pleasant and we have gained just over an hour of daylight. On the sunny days the office is flooded with sunlight in the mornings. It is now possible for us to take our regular walk entirely in the daylight! Saturday Argy and I saw a few robins; no it is not early for them. Actually right about on time. If you look back over the years in this blog you will see that they usually arrive sometime during the first week of February, sometimes in a snowstorm.  The Lund Alaskan has been through its annual overhaul and will be back from the shop this afternoon, even though it would be impossible to launch on the freshwater at the moment, everything is frozen.

Clearly we have turned the corner and are headed back toward the warmer seasons. I will be making a reservation this morning or the annual Orvis guide rendezvous in April and looking to see what new rods, lines and flies I need. I am ready to get back out on the water.
