End of August Fishing report

Hard to believe that August is nearly over. This month has been as busy as ever for me, much better than I expected even six weeks ago. This is the month of family fishing trips and I have done a bunch. We have caught perch, bass, pickerel, pike and stripers. Some of those were someone’s first fish ever and others something that they will dream of all this coming winter.

Weather eye

Or really trusting your instincts.

This morning I had a striper fishing trip, when I met my clients it was already raining and I offered raingear. They put on the gear and off we went. Fishing was lackluster near the harbor so I headed off downriver. About halfway to where I was intending to go the rain really started to come down. I turned back and stopped in quiet cove along a protected shore. Fish still ignoring the lures.

Milestone Birthday

Yesterday I was fortunate to celebrate my 65th birthday. Lots of good wishes from near and far, time with my family and pleasing support of a small fundraising effort to support the Maine Guides Education Fund. It all gives me pause to appreciate the time I have been gifted with a great family; many friends and a chance to build a business based on the things I love.
