Bobolinks

The spring migrations of birds are in full swing, warblers abound and the hummingbirds have returned to the feeder. On our walk yesterday there were birds everywhere most notable for me was a Chestnut sided warbler which I see every spring and bobolinks. Bobolinks are a distinctive field nesting bird that were very common in our area. After the wet spring and summer of 2009 they disappeared from the local fields, that is until yesterday.

Argy and I saw several in one of the local hayfields. The males singing their distinctive song from the treetops along with several females. Hopefully they are recovering from the wet summer and will again be gracing our fields in coming years. Take a minute and explore the outdoors this spring there is a lot ot see and do there.
