Getting ready for fall

As we approach the unofficial end of summer my transition to fall has already begun. What I expect will be my last saltwater fishing trip will be Sunday afternoon. Not finished fishing for the season to be sure but my focus will shift to freshwater. I also think that last family fishing trip for the season is scheduled for early next week. If you look you can see maples turning red along the river and in the wet places along the roads.

The gradual transition to my fall grouse and woodcock hunting seasons is also underway. Copper and I are in the woods for an hour or so every afternoon and Rocky the English Pointer is scheduled to arrive this afternoon and take up permanent residence in my kennel.

Only a few more weeks until all of us head to the North Maine Woods and Libby Camps for the bird hunting season. While I look forward to the fall I am always sad to see another summer season draw to a close.
