The last couple of weeks have been full with a number of great trips. Fishing mostly but a couple of Scenic Maine Coast Boat trips have been part of the mix. On the most recent trips we have had a couple of remarkable sightings. First the seals on one of the haul out ledges in the Saint George River were incredibly patient for one young family. Letting us get pretty close without even looking frightened and putting on a real show growling at each other over the more comfortable spots on the rock. As you can see in the picture there were plenty to see.
On another early morning trip with a grandfather and grandson the harbor porpoises put on quite a show. I saw them out in the channel and used the trolling motor to get closer, as I usually do. This time though a couple of them circled the boat and in the clear seawater you could see them roll on their sides to get a better look at us. They made several passes before returning to their breakfast. An amazing sight. Add to that the usual scenery, a lighthouse, eagles and ospreys it makes for a great few hours on the water.
