Fall Foliage Report

As fall progresses the amount of color in the leaves changes almost daily and peak foliage is a fleeting moment at best. Over the last week the color has come steadily and we have gone from a red tree here and there to maybe a quarter of the trees in bright color. This picture was taken at the beginning of the week from the boat launch on Seven Tree pond in Union. A nearly perfect fall day with hardly a breath of wind and pleasant warm temperatures made it hard to stay indoors and get my work done.

Mid week Argy and I travelled to Aroostook County, for the first time in our professional careers we were able to coordinate business trips. With any luck we will be able to travel together more in the coming months as my schedule slows. The foliage was a little further along in far northern Maine and I thought it very close to peak when I went into the North Maine Woods in the country near Libby Camps. I stopped in at the camps for lunch and a visit. I am looking forward to guiding there next month.

My schedule for the coming week is very busy with folks looking to get in one last fishing trip during this great weather. Hopefully the rain we are forecast to get this weekend will not take too many of the leaves off of the trees.
