Planning for Next Summer

Blog Tags:

Earlier this week I had what I suspect will be the last family fishing trip of the season. The leaves are definitely beginning to change and frost is in the forecast for a morning or two in the next several days. I am sure that the pickerel panic will start next week. This is still the season where I have almost all of my equipment out in use because of the variety of trips that I offer in a short period of time. In three weeks the upland bird hunting season will be here and my extended visits to Libby Camps will begin.

The season is not really over yet. In fact the schedule is pretty full from now to the end of October. It is time though to think ahead, place ads for next summer and think about what trips to stop offering and what to do differently next season. I am considering becoming Orvis Endorsed, and am wondering if it will bring any value to Maine Outdoors. What are your thoughts? Would an endorsement from a larger company like Orvis make you more likely to go on a trip with Maine Outdoors? Would your perception of Maine Outdoors be improved in any way?

I would love to hear your thoughts as I consider the options.

Hey Don, my thoughts on Orvis. For me, Orvis is narrowly focused on trout fishing, not off shore, near shore, or bass and lake related species. It would not do much for me. Your strength is word of mouth and "more steak than sizzle." Your best survival long term is to treat every present customer as very significant, which is your habit. And you do this sincerely, and it is very powerful. I would definitely go again if we get anywhere near you.
