After the winter we had with all of the snow and cold I never expected to be guiding the first week of May. The weather switched from cold and winter like to a pleasant dry spring with warm days not only today but stretching into the near term forecast. It is certainly not summer but for coastal Maine great May weather, the only down side is that the water temperatures have not jumped to warm the same way. Keeping fish slow and a little on the sluggish side.
I’ve been breaking in the new outboard and fishing for a week now. In fact two parties are booked to fish with me in the coming week. Not only a pleasant change in the weather but a nice start to my season with largemouth and smallmouth bass, pike and rainbow trout already to the boat. I am looking forward to what the rest of the season brings!
