As we begin a new year our thoughts turn to what will be new or different. There are some significant changes that have already taken place at Maine Outdoors. All designed to help you creat better memories.
New web site
If you are reading this it is on the new www.maineoutdoors web site. An upgrade with a new look, cleaner easier to navigate and much simpler on the back end on a new more reliable server. Of course you can still expect blog posts twice a week, more photos and more video as the season gets underway.
Orvis Endorsement
I became an Orvis Endorsed Fly Fishing Guide last fall and am looking forward to our partnership in the coming year. Of course the goal here is to find more clients who are a great match for what I offer and spend as many pleasant days on the water with them as possible. For you it means that Orvis has reviewed what Maine Outdoors offers and determined that our trips meet their high standards for quality, experience and fun.
Expanded role with the Maine Professional Guides Association
The Associations long time lobbyist retired in December and the Board of Directors has decided that adding those responsibilities to my role as their Executive Director makes sense. Of course on my end it means giving up some of the services that Maine Outdoors offers. You will notice that small business seminars for other guides are no longer available as are winter snowshoe trips. There simply will not be enough time to do it all when the Maine legislature is in session.
An Assistant
As my role is expanded with the Maine Professional Guides Association the administrative details are also growing. To help with the load I am considering adding an assistant part time (at least at first). I have used a virtual assistant for a few years and will be using her more but I think that the time has come to have someone in the office. What this will mean to clients is that I may not always be the one to answer your call the upside there will be a person on the other end of the call more frequently. Meaning that you will talk to my machine less frequently.
It will take some time to sort out all of the details and of course find someone who is a match for you and me. I am hopeful that you and I can agree on what this assistant should do and who it should be early in the New Year.
As I look back at the old year and toward the new one I am pleased with where I have been and excited for what is on the horizon. I hope that you are at least that fortunate!
