A variety of trips last week with a nice mix of new and returning clients, some of the returning clients had not seen me for fifteen years! Of course they return with grandkids. The variety included a good number of fly fishing trips some with experienced fly anglers that made my life easy by making the hard casts and catching nice fish.
The most fun for me was a learn to fly fish trip with a couple from Brooklyn. Fulfilling a lifelong dream to lean to cast a fly and as a bonus catching a few fish. One interesting aspect of the morning was a hatch of some sort that had the sunfish taking flies from the surface of the pond. It did not last long enough as a slight breeze put an end to it mid-morning. Not something that I normally think of happening with sunfish but a pretty exciting half hour for beginners.
The week ended with a couple of trips on Crescent Lake over near Sebago, perch fishing with kids if you get a chance the river between Crescent and Panther Pond is worth the trip. With shallow water and a white sand bottom it is some of the best fish watching I have experienced in Maine.
