After promising myself for the last three years that I would use more video on the web I purchased one of
those little HD Hero cameras and plan to mount it in the boat to capture video snippets of trips. Today brought showers and warm humid air, I was almost caught up in the office so took a few hours off to experiment with the new camera (actually toy, let’s be honest). This is my first effort and while I don’t talk much when fishing alone I would hope to have better sound on future videos.
I fished on Chickawaukie Pond in Rockland. I never guide on Chickie because the highway on the south shore is just too noisy to allow for a quality experience. The fishing was reasonable, I started with a light fly rod and a small streamer and could have easily caught 50 small bass, but after 20 minutes I switched to an Orvis 6 wt with a floating line and a large fly (tied exclusively for me) the numbers of fish caught dropped off but as you can see the quality went up dramatically. I still had squads of little bass follow the fly back to the boat but only landed a few.
Clearly I have a lot to learn about shooting video but I am excited by the potential for bringing you right onto a trip. More video to follow I am sure!
