One of best parts of being a guide is showing someone how to do something new and having them be successful at it. Yesterday I fished with a father and his two sons with the goal of having them improve their fly casting and learn about the lake that they own a cottage on. I think that the morning was a huge success on the fly fishing part and we found a bunch of fish while showing them how to fish their lake.
The day was what I always hope for when fishing in the summer. Foggy early with almost no wind. The fog keeps the fish coming to the surface and the lack of wind makes casting easier for beginner fly casters. During the three hours we were together everyone caught fish including some beauties like the one in the picture.
We enjoyed a great morning to be sure but my measure of success was the report from dad in the evening telling me that the boys were back on the water after a short break and even caught more fish. Pretty much perfect from my seat in the boat!
