This has been a long and snowy winter that is for sure. With lots of snow in January and March and a long cold snap. But the feature that is the least fun is the spring or lack of it. We are nearly to the middle of April and temperatures are still below normal. Which has kept a lot of our ponds still covered in ice and snow on the ground in many places. That being said the annual Maine Professional Guides Association banquet was Saturday and we did not have to drive home in a snowstorm as we have so many times in the past.
Still the days are long and getting longer making the sun a powerful factor in warming the air and the house. So at least firewood use has dropped some. Headed to the Orvis Guides Rendezvous later this week and am looking forward to visiting a warm spring. With any luck it will warm here in time for the first guided fishing trips of the 2018 season in two weeks.
The clock is ticking and before you know it summer will be here. Lots to get finished before the busy part of the season arrives but still I wish it would hurry along!
