A steady rain today one of those foggy, cold, damp days that we always seem to have in November. The good news is that it is not real cold (52 degrees right now) which is pretty easy on the wood pile. We are having a steady southeast wind at around 20 miles per hour driving the rain. Not a bad day to be working at my desk. I realized this weekend that I have transitioned from guiding full time to working indoors. I was feeling unsettled by the change but did not realize that it had happened. It is not a time with nothing to do but a change in what I do each day. More time sitting at my desk and much less with a fishing rod in my hand. I won't complain I already spend more time fishing and canoeing than most people and only missed a few days of the upland bird season. I will be guiding parties of duck hunters in early December to finish out the year. So I have spent plenty of time in the Maine Outdoors this year and am thankful for the great season and all of the nice folks that I get to show my part of the world.
I added custom made items from Igas Island to the online store. Igas Island is a small, family run business in Waldoboro that has made quality accessories for 34 years. All of their designs come from use, from their personal experience as travelers. Their designs are proven effective by rigorous field-testing, crafted by hand, one at a time, and guaranteed to give you many years of satisfaction. Simply stated, they know what is needed, why, how to make it well, and will back it up. Their designs are simple but elegant. You don't need an owner's manual to figure out how to use them, and they won't be replaced by next year's hot new trend. All of their products are made in their solar-powered shop/home on the coast of Maine. I have already ordered several Atlas Cases for my personal use. As of today their Atlas Case and Map Organizer are in the online store and I expect to add other items in the next few weeks. Click here to order yours today! Or forward this message to someone you know who is searching for that perfectly useful holiday gift.
I am offering a seminar to help guides develop marketing plans that is scheduled for the afternoon of December 2nd at the new Sportsman's Alliance of Maine Conference Center in Augusta from 1 to 4 PM. The next small business seminar for guides is filling fast and attracting some great folks to share their expertise. That seminar will be held at the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine Conference Center in Augusta, ME on January 6, 2007 from 9 to 3, and is limited to 25 participants. From the way that reservations are coming in I expect this one to fill completely.
Best regards,
Don Kleiner
