The Thanksgiving Holiday is now passed and we have had a chance to stop and think about all that we have to be thankful for. Argy and I have two great boys; live in a beautiful place with abundant natural resources and both do work that we love. It is amazing to think that I am able to spend most of my time doing something that I love something that is indeed rare in today's world. I am able to spend a big part of each year outdoors and enjoy the company of many great folks who are there to enjoy the same things that I do. The holidays are here and we would like to give you a little gift to show our appreciation. All items in the online store ship FREE until the first of the year. Thank you for choosing Maine Outdoors and Happy Holidays!
Thanksgiving week usually marks a significant turn in the weather and this year is no different. While we have not had any real cold or amount of snow yet, the change is obvious. The ground is white, making it look like winter and there is a fair amount of snow not too far north of here. The national weather service has a great web site that shows snow depths across New England. Temperatures are cold enough that the water buckets in the dog kennels stay frozen all day. The heated buckets are in the kennels so the dogs are all set for the winter. One more group of duck hunters and am finished guiding for the season. It looks like it will be just in time to avoid the real cold. I'll put the boat away next weekend with a cover to keep the snow and ice out.
Just as this season is drawing to a close I got a call from the Delaware Valley Women's Fly Fishing Association to reserve dates for their second trip with me next summer. Fishing with them was great fun last June so I of course said yes, which means that I am already looking forward to next season. Be the first on your block to reserve a memory for next summer. Please give me a call or drop me an e-mail to make your reservation for next summer now.
I have been offering Registered Maine Guides seminars on methods to run a successful business. My seminar combines many business basics with specific knowledge developed over time of what does and does not work. The seminars have been well received and I enjoy helping other guides become better at the nuts and bolts of what they do. The next seminar will be offered at the Maine Principal's Association in Augusta, ME on January 21, 2006 from 9 to 3, and is limited to 15 participants. I already have several reservations, now if I can just be sure that we will not have a snowstorm that day!
I hope that you are enjoying the late fall and have a chance to get out and enjoy these short late fall days!
Best regards,
Don Kleiner
