This time of year makes me realize how fortunate I am. Maine Outdoors has become a successful business that I enjoy working at every day; and sometimes they are long days. I have clients that I like to spend time with and best of all; a good part of the year is spent outside in a place that I love. I am always grateful when one of you reminds me how beautiful this place is and how fortunate I am to be able to work here. How many folks can say that they see eagles or ospreys close up on at least half of their work days each year? Or get to be along with a child on their first time in a canoe or when they catch their first fish? Each of you is a part of that success; thank you!
If you would like to make one of those experiences a reality for someone that you know, certificates for trips are available as a unique holiday gift. Each trip gift certificate comes with a Maine Outdoors Natural Canvas Hat for something under the tree along with the classy certificate. If you plan it right you can go along and enjoy the trip. Give me a call or drop me an e-mail and I can make the arrangements for you. Gift certificates are also available in the online store if you like to shop in the middle of the night or I am not available to answer your call.
A Maine Guide in France!
Argy, Noah and I have just returned from France where we visited our youngest son Nicholas. Nicholas is studying at the University of Rennes this semester. We had a great adventure. For me it was the first time out of North America breaking one of my long standing rules. We visited Paris, Normandy and the four of us made a side trip to Germany to visit relatives. The weather was for the most part cloudy and damp with rain most days. The exception being the two days in Germany that featured bright blue skies with a little snow on the ground and chilly air temperatures.

Beginning to Look a lot like Winter!
Our weather is starting to look more like winter. Ice has covered most of the ponds in thin sheets that I am sure will thicken soon. Nighttime temperatures are in the teens and daytime highs are in the twenties . We had a little light snow on Sunday and today; just enough to remind us that it won't be long now. Last week we had a storm with strong winds that blew about a third of the shingles off of the garage roof. The roof needs to be replaced anyway so I hope to complete at least the front section of the roof before Christmas which could be interesting between snowstorms.
Need a Speaker next Spring?
I will be attending the World Fishing & Outdoor Expo in Suffern NY for the Maine Office of Tourism early next March. Since I am already heading down the east coast if you have a group that needs a speaker for a program let's talk about the topics that your group might be interested in hearing about.
