The summer is here and already off to a great start. There seem to be plenty of eagles and ospreys this season and they are almost always part of the early season striper fishing mix. Last Saturday afternoon really made that point. Capt. George Harris of Superfly Charters and I were fishing on the Saint George between Thomaston Harbor and Warren Village checking to see if the stripers had arrived (not that day).
We are enjoying excellent spring weather that I hope holds throughout the coming summer. The dandelions are in full bloom in all of the hayfields making them a carpet of yellow flowers. Today is warm and sunny with an afternoon sea breeze. Actually our afternoon sea breeze will have it back down into the low 50's by sunset at this time of year. But in a month or so that will be welcome relief.
The last few days have been sunny and very warm, nearly perfect spring weather. The first warblers have shown up and are soon to be followed by waves of their fellows. The leaves are not yet out on the trees letting full sunlight onto the forest floor. The early wildflowers are taking advantage of their moment in the sun so to speak.
