Double Eagle!

The St. George River near the house has gotten its annual fall stocking of brown trout. I like to slip away from my chores on warm afternoons for an hour or so of fishing in between working on boats or putting things away. This morning was warm and wind free so I decided that I would squeeze in an hour of fishing after lunch. I rigged my fly rod, got all of my stuff in the Yukon and drove down to the river. I was in for quite a surprise there was a crowd fishing (well not really a crowd, but three other fishermen) in the pool that I like to fish the most.

I decided that the experience would not be as much fun if I had to share and I had a ton of work that I was supposed to be doing. So I headed back to the office, as I drove up the North Union Road I noticed an unusual number of crows in the trees in one of our neighbors fields. I slowed down to see if I could figure out what was drawing such a crowd.

I looked up in one of the trees and was surprised to see not one but two eagles. Seeing one eagle has become pretty common, I see them on a good number of fishing trips on both the fresh and salt water. But seeing two mature adults together is still out of the ordinary. I took a series of pictures with my digital camera but they really do not show the eagles very well.

I missed out on an hour of fishing but was rewarded with an unusual wildlife sighting. I guess that things just balance out.
