Transitions

Last evening we attended the high school graduation of our oldest son. It was a proud moment for his parents, family and friends to see him walk across that stage. He is making great progress toward becoming a fine young adult. I was impressed with the number and amounts of scholarships that were presented in the last few days. From a small rural community like ours the money given to these kids is amazing; the total was on the order of $450,000. If you consider that there are five towns in the district it is over $75,000 per town annually donated to our collective futures.

At the same time I am working with the local chamber of commerce to help them redevelop their web site. Trying to explain how it can be built and what features it can offer to the majority of our members that do not have any web presence is a challenge. The details of how to have the site pay for itself seem simple but there are some policy decisions that need to be made before going forward. I have agreed to assist in a presentation to the membership in a couple of weeks; it will be interesting to watch the reactions as this transition takes place.

Finally the weather could use a transition we are plagued with wind and rain again with little change in the pattern until Sunday. I have been feeding the wood stove at least part of every day to keep the house warm and the air inside feeling dry.
