Most importantly, I was able to take my granddaughter Lyra for her first boat ride! On a warmish October afternoon with a little breeze surrounded by beautiful fall foliage. I have had the privilege of providing a number of first boat trips, but this one was the best for me! All went well and ended with Lyra fast asleep before she got off of the boat.
On a different note, we have added solar power and battery backup to our electric system. Sixteen solar panels on the garage roof and a battery in the cellar. While there is a long-term ability to offset our power bill our real goal is not to endure the power outages that have become common for us and our neighbors. The jury is out on that part of it. The installation took a little over 3 weeks. Not counting the garage roof and burying the electric cable from the panels to the basement. We are still waiting for the power company to finish their steps but hopefully by the time you read this all will be up and running. All of Maine Outdoors office operations will be solar powered by the time you read this!
Come write or call to make your fall reservation or make one online here.
