Last week spring was coming. You could see the difference in the light and length of day. Temperatures had even begun to warm. I took the signal and got started registered the boat, ordered my new stuff from Orvis and was watching the boat launches to see if the ice was gone. The new brochures had been delivered and a few dropped off at the the local chambers of commerce and the information centers on the Interstate. What a difference a week makes! A few snowstorms (one a blizzard), temperatures while not frigid are below normal and snow is plowed over my head in the yard. So much for spring in the air!
Still reservations are coming steadily. Clearly we are all thinking about the warmer weather!
March marks the beginning of the outdoor shows in Maine and they will get at least one of my weekend days for the rest of the month representing the Maine Professional Guides Association. April 7 is the Associations annual banquet like every year Maine Outdoors will have a table and I would like to extend an invitation to all of my clients to attend as a guest of Maine Outdoors. Don't worry I will not be selected as the Legendary Maine Guide because I am simply not old enough!
It is time to start thinking about your summer reservations and I am looking forward to talking with you about the coming season.
Best regards,
Don Kleiner

Annual Upgrade Spares For Sale
|
Today felt spring like. Warmish (ok 40 degrees) windy with bright sunshine the ice on the ponds is getting dark indication that the warm water below is working on it. It got me thinking about the coming season. So I registered the Lund Alaskan and the Sequoia and began to work on my fly rod order from Orvis for the coming season.
As an endorsed guide I am encouraged to have the latest and greatest for my clients to use. Last year saw an upgrade of my freshwater gear to Recon and Helios rods. This year the saltwater gear is due for an upgrade. I use 9-foot 9 weight rods on the salt not because the heavy gear is needed on big fish rather I like to use big flies and the wind blows every afternoon and the only way to pitch them is with pretty heavy gear.
So as part of my upgrade I have the old gear for sale. have 2 9-foot Orvis TLS Rods (2 piece) with Clearwater reels, backing. One with clear intermediate sinking line and one with floating line. $150 per rod/ reel combo with case.
I also have freshwater outfits to sell they are 9-foot 6 weight 2 piece Orvis Access rods with Access reels (right hand retrieve), floating and sinking lines on separate spools. $300 each with case.
So if you are looking good used fly fishing outfits. Drop me a note or give me a call.
