As you can see in the picture the snow (what little we had) is now gone. All of the local ponds are free of ice and a pair of bluebirds have taken up residence in the birdhouse over the mailbox. The daffodils are getting taller every day and before you know it yellow blooms will appear. Spring is here, well except for any late season snowstorms that might arrive. The boat is registered my various licenses have been renewed and the cover will come off of the boat next week. The storms this winter have left water levels quite high so hopefully not a lot more rain in the long term forecast.
Past years have had more than a few very cold days well into April. Including one April 15 that I clearly remember when the morning temperature was 12 degrees with a stiff northwest wind. Which is to say that there is no rush on any preparations for spring fishing, but we are getting close. I expect that I will have been on the water at least a few times before the solar eclipse on April 8.
There is always plenty to do to get ready for the coming season and I am about half way through the list not to mention the around the house projects that never seem to end. There is some fun stuff too. This week I taped (is that what you call it?) a podcast with the Maine Tourism Association. I’ll let you know when it goes live. Can’t wait to see what I said. Plenty of guide stories for sure.
If you would like to hear some of those old guide stories in person you can make a reservation to spend some time on the water with me this spring or summer. I am looking forward to it!
Feel free to write or call to make your reservation for the coming season or make one online here to enjoy some time on the water for the coming season!
Best regards,
