Our spring is wet and cold this year more late winter than spring really. I accept some responsibility after wishing for just one rainy day during the long hot summer of 2016. Got my wish and then some. I have been on the water frequently in the last couple of weeks and water temperatures simply will not budge to get us into the usual spring pattern.
Mothers Day is tomorrow and let me wish a happy Mother's Day to all of the moms on my list. Last summer I fished with Sherry Ott a travel writer at Otts World who had never been fishing. It was a beautiful day on the water and an adventure for her. She recently wrote a piece about her day on the water with me check it out on her blog here. If nothing else the pictures are outstanding. It was a very pretty day for sure but her photos make it look even prettier than I remember it. She also made a short video about her experience that day that you can see here.
I am experimenting with posting video using Facebook Live on the Maine Outdoors Facebook Page. I try to capture a few moments of something interesting in my day. I already captured a pair of loons fishing close to the boat and I am sure eagles will be included in the action this summer. Take a minute and like Maine Outdoors on Facebook to get those short videos included in your feed.
Last week the Grand Lake Canoe sold and it was bittersweet to see it head out of the yard. I guided many parties out of that boat and it held tons of great memories for me and many of you.
It is never too soon to make a reservation for a fishing or canoe trip! And the warm weather will soon be here; he said hopefully.

Part of the preparation is spending some time on each of the lakes and ponds that I will be fishing this season. Read More....
