The unofficial kick off of summer is here. We were all looking forward to enjoying the summer weather again and now the reward for waiting! Even though yesterday was punctuated by strong west winds and rain squalls followed of course by sunshine.
At our house the lilacs are in bloom and the apple blossoms make the abandoned orchards obvious. I am planning to plan the last of the warm weather vegetables in the garden this weekend. We lost my fist try at tomatoes cucumbers and peppers to the freeze last week. This time I am being much more cautious.
Water temperatures have risen to either side of 60 in the freshwater and the high 50's in the saltwater. Freshwater bass fishing has been very good this spring. Earlier this week clients and I enjoyed excellent smallmouth bass action on Damariscotta Lake.
Stripers will be here this weekend or very soon after completing that summer feel to the season. My calendar is very much like that last few. Typically I have openings until about two weeks out and fill completely as dates get closer. This is new because u until a few years ago I could almost always fit folks in. If you already know when you will be in the area and would like to fish please get in touch beforehand. I never like to tell any of you that I don't have an opening in my calendar.
Come
write or call to make your reservation or
make one online here to spend some time on the water between now and the return of winter!
Best regards,
