Fall starts on Monday even if we are not ready. We have already had our first few chilly mornings to make the point. Our son Noah is working on getting our (and his) firewood cut split and stacked for the coming winter.
I have been on the water quite a bit this September and will be in October as well. In the past I have pretty much disappeared to the North Woods for a month of guiding upland bird hunters. Far fewer of those this fall and lots more fishing. This morning the saltwater temperature was still at 65 and the stripers are still here. Check out the Maine Outdoors Facebook page for some great photos posted by clients in the last couple of weeks. October and early November have always been great fishing and I am looking forward to having more time to spend on the water. For the first time in 30 plus years the week after Columbus Day only has one reserved date.
The dogs of course only know that it is time to get ready for chasing grouse. So we spend time practicing and getting ready for long days spent walking in the woods looking for them. These are pictures taken of them doing what they absolutely love in the last week or so.
No matter what you choose to do, get outside and enjoy the best season of the year.
Best regards,
