My summer season is underway. May has offered some of the best trout fishing I can remember. More on that later in this newsletter coming right up is the bass spawning season at the end of the month. For a spell it is going to be hard to choose what to do next.
The big news this month is that Maine Outdoors has partnered with the Maine Tourism Association to bring you an online reservation System. The system allows you to make a reservation for a morning or afternoon trip. Someone will then be in touch with you to arrange the details. What type of trip is it that you want exactly? Who will be on the trip? Beginners? Kids? Serious anglers? Where we will meet and a chance to answer any questions that you might have.
This system is new and offers an easy way for you to reserve and confirm your trip without waiting for a return phone call or e-mail. I think that this will be a great benefit to clients who are traveling and want to go on a trip tomorrow or this afternoon because the weather is so nice.

May Trout Fishing Report

The Saint George River is still higher than I really like for comfortable wading. It did provide both brook and brown trout on my most recent trip there. A few mayflies had started to emerge but the fish were not feeding on the surface. Rather I had luck on streamer flies again.

Travel New England

The article is Make Maine fishing part of your vacation plans. I hope that you find the information helpful as you think about what to do on your visit this summer.

Bobolinks
The spring migrations of birds are in full swing, warblers abound and the hummingbirds have returned to the feeder. Bobolinks are a distinctive field nesting bird that were very common in our area. After the wet spring and summer of 2009 they disappeared from the local fields, that is until yesterday.
