This newsletter is the first with videos that I have taken using the new video camera. A great way for you to experience what I see every day. I would love to hear your comments and thoughts on these videos. What else would you like to see?
I've spent quite a bit of time on the saltwater in the last couple of weeks. Mostly chasing mackerel with families but a couple of striper trips for good measure. The mackerel fishing has been excellent with some beautiful weather and lots of fish. Stripers have not been so dependable but that is what keeps being a guide interesting and why they call it fishing and not catching.
Freshwater fishing has been outstanding with the early summer bass fishing at it's best. Sometimes it is hard to choose a lake they have all been fishing so well.
I hope that you have been outside too, enjoying everything that there is to see and do. If you are in the area this summer let's plan to spend a little time together. You can make a reservation online today!

A Few Questions
A friend is developing a web site for a new lodge and for my thoughts on how folks search the web for outdoor adventures. I appreciated being asked but suggested that the folks who read my newsletter and blog are the real experts. So if you would be so kind as to respond here are her questions.
1. What makes you choose a lodge or guide? A referral, been there before, advertising (Print: Video: YouTube: Website)
2. When you are looking to vacation, what method do you use to plan? Travel Agent? Website? (which ones- trip advisor, yelp, etc)
3. What words would you "Google" to find a place to stay on your vacation?
4. What are the top 3 things you look for in a place to stay?
5. If you use a lodges website what helps you make a decision to go (or not) there? Photos? Current stories? Testimonials? Easy to book?? Kelly and I would appreciate hearing your thoughts if you would be so kind as to reply to this e-mail or use this link to send them to me. |
Improved Orvis Listing
As an Orvis Endorsed Guide I receive a listing on the Orvis web site. They have recently improved my listing and added a few photos. The most helpful addition is an opportunity for clients to review my services and a shortened web address for that listing and review www.orvis.com/kleiner;
This will give clients thinking about spending time outdoors with me your perspective on your recent trip and what they might expect. I know that many of my regular and recent clients read this blog. Please take a minute and write a review on the Orvis site if you have recently been on a Maine Outdoors fishing trip. |
Learning to Fly Fish on the Fourth!
I enjoyed a somewhat damp morning of July 4th teaching a couple for North Carolina how to fly fish. They both picked up casting very well and with only an hours practice were catching fish. As an added bonus we were able to see a newly hatched loon chick riding on its parents back. A great way to start off Independence Day!
