No easier; well both. I have taken credit cards for payment to make it easier for clients and last spring I upgraded my cell phone. One of the thoughts was to begin processing client credit cards right from the phone. I got the new phone and started checking out card readers.
After a investigating the options I chose Square as my phone based processor. The little card reader inserts into the top of my phone and the software was a simple app download. Setting up an account was so simple that it felt like I had not done it when compared to the account I use for my online store. The reader arrived in a few days and I was in business.
There are several things to love about this system. First using it is simple; my only complaint is that the phone screen is sometimes hard to read in bright sun. Second the deposit arrives on the next business day. Finally there is no monthly fee and Square is only taking 2.75% of each payment. It is only mid-August and the amount spent on credit card fees is half of last year. Clients get a receipt via e-mail instantly if they choose or I can e-mail one after I am back in the office.
I have been using Square all summer and have not had a single problem even though I am frequently at a boat launch when processing credit cards. In fact yesterday I was still standing in the boat when the clients’ card was processed. Painless and simple for all involved. Life is better for me and even more convenient for my clients. Nice!
