Each summer Argy and I try to slip away for a couple of days and take a mid-summer break. Last weekend we had two free days and headed off to the North Maine Woods and Libby Camps. We spent some time exploring remote country, watching some interesting critters and fishing for native brook trout but mostly just hanging out and watching the day go by.
We saw a coyote pup out on its own for one and learning to hunt, a moose cow with her calf and an excellent view of Mount Katahdin off to our south.
Libby Sporting Camps was named Best Sporting Camp for Foodies in this year’s Best of Maine issue of Down East magazine. As you might imagine we also enjoyed some good food.
Just the break we both needed. Back to my home waters today.
