July and August are always the busiest part of my season, most days have me on the water somewhere. All of that time coming and going or just being on the water gets me to see lots of unusual sights. This afternoon I was fishing along the shore of Megunticook Lake in Camden with clients and there on the shore were two fawns (still with spots) feeding as if we simply did not exist. Last week clients and I saw a deer in the water feeding much as a moose does on a different part of the lake.
I was backing the boat down into the ramp on Seven Tree Pond one afternoon last week and watched in amazement as a mink scampered across the ramp almost under the boat trailer. The most unusual was here on the Beote Road as I pulled up late one afternoon to back the boat into the driveway. I saw a brown something in the road not too far away, at first I thought it was a grouse or a young turkey both unusual in the middle of the road. So I eased ahead some and in amazement realized it was a bobcat kitten when it stood up and walked casually off into the woods.
All of this is the result of simply spending more time outdoors you should too and you will have great stories of your own.
