This October is very different for me I'm home guiding fishermen and actually having a little fun on my own.
The weather is always warm and very pretty in early October a challenge when guiding upland bird hunters but a delight when you're spending the day fishing. For me the most noticeable thing is how frequently I'm changing activities moving equipment around and getting ready for something different. in the last five days I've covered and uncovered the Lund three times. I’ve gotten out freshwater fishing equipment saltwater fishing equipment and where did dog boxes in and out of the truck multiple times.
The weather has been glorious warm and crystal clear. I was on the tidal portion of the Saint George on Thursday with no wind a few stripers and no one else around. Reflecting the common comment from almost every client this fall “where is everyone”. It certainly is pleasant to have a place all to ourselves whether it is a local lake or 10 miles of the tidal part of the river.
I plan to attend the first Maine Outdoor Recreation Summit this week and am looking forward to hearing some clever ideas from my peers. Aside from that guiding a few days but there are still open slots if you want to spend some time outdoors during the best part of the year in Maine.
Fall in Maine can be glorious and I expect nothing less this year. I hope to see you all again before the snow files in late November.
Best regards,
