We reach a point in late August where it is obvious that a change is underway. For me there are signs like the goldenrod coming into bloom and the shorebird migrations getting started. But I know that it is here when the light begins to flatten out and I can’t see into the water like I could a month ago. Even with polarized glasses it becomes more difficult to see into the water and see rocks and or fish.
This morning was chilly in the house and I wished that I had closed the windows before going to bed. Which means that I better get some firewood into the garage because we will be having a fire in the woodstove before you know it.
