Fall Color Coming Quickly

Saturday Argy and I went to the Common Ground Country Fair in Unity. A warm fall day but the color in the leaves seemed like it changed in the time we were at the fair. With much less green showing in the afternoon.

Sunday I guided a nature exploration trip on the Saint George River, Seven Tree and round Ponds. My clients were one of the women in my Intermediate Fishing session at Becoming an Outdoorswoman last weekend and her elderly father. We travelled in the Grand Lake Canoe and made use of the outboard motor. The weather was cloudy and cool with a steady northeast breeze, almost the complete opposite of the day before. One thing about a cloudy day though is that makes the fall foliage seem more vibrant and this day was no exception.

Since I had a budding angler along we spent more than a little time fishing with excellent results. The biggest was a smallmouth bass of around three pounds that took a surface popper in one of the pools far up the river. We were able to land a good variety of fish including yellow perch, largemouth bass and pickerel.

This perfect weather and beautiful scenery does not last long so get out and enjoy it!

Don,

Love the blog!

I too noticed how quickly the leaves seem to be changing color this fall. Seems as though the trees all along my I-95 commute were green just before the weekend, but now a couple of days later in places they are really starting to turn. Lots of yellows and browns with some spectacular reds in places too. Hopefully the show of color this fall will be nice.

David
