After a beautiful summer and pleasant early fall, November arrived with plenty of rain, actually way too much. We have had a series of storms resulting in high water everywhere. I have cancelled some grouse hunting parties because of the weather and no one has been interested in fishing under these conditions. The current forecast is for a stretch of settled dry weather. Hopefully things will return to normal, but I expect that the Saint George River will not go down to a fishable level until late spring.
This weather marks my transition to what I call meeting season where my role as Executive Director of the Maine Professional Guides Association has me in some meeting or another at least three days a week. I also have to carve out some time to get firewood in for the winter. Always plenty to do that is for sure.
