One of Maine Outdoors business strategies is to keep current with computers, software and electronic communication. Over the years this effort has sometimes been very painful. Installing new software has been a huge challenge more than once. The best story is this from the winter of 2008.
Recently even upgrading my handheld GPS unit proved to be a multi-day customer service event (finial got it though).
Overnight we endured an early winter storm with a howling southeast wind and lots of rain. The overnight temperature warmed to 51 degrees. We had wind gusts that were over 40 mph. This morning the wind is shifting to the south and beginning to diminish. I expect that the rain will stop soon.
Every year winter sort of creeps up on me, it is here today for sure. With the snow cover temperatures can fall pretty quickly at night this morning it was 5 degrees when we went for our walk. At any rate each winter I am surprised when the heated water buckets are needed in the kennels (usually around Thanksgiving), the dogs should come in at night because of the cold and how quickly the wood pile melts away. At my age you would not expect all of that to be so surprising.
