We are having a string of beautiful early spring days this week. Temperatures in the 50’s and cloudless blue skies; of course I am in New England and recognize the realities, it will change and most likely not for the better.
No it is not all that warm yet and there are only pussy willows in bloom. But the birds have all shown up all at once. There was a flock of robins on the lawn and the geese and ducks are flying over head steadily in the morning. I have commented before that we seem to be on some kind of a flight path for ducks in the early morning. I watch bunch after bunch pass overhead when I walk out to get the newspaper around dawn.
Spring officially arrives this afternoon. Of course we have a stiff northwest breeze and the noontime temperature is in the 30’s and snow is in the forecast for tomorrow but spring is here. To celebrate I am hauling the boat down to Waldoboro for the spring tune up and overhaul. Should be ready to go sometime early next month.
