This morning was a delight; warm but not too warm and sunny with a slight breeze. Fishing was a little slow but still several nice bass came to the boat on stickbaits fished slowly. Including the largemouth in this picture that really shows how pleasant it was.
This morning is gray with a light rain and a strong northeast wind. Not one of our finest May days to be sure. But there are signs that spring is progressing as usual everywhere that you look. The Canada Mayflowers are in bloom in the woods as are the trilliums. Hummingbirds returned to our feeder over the weekend and I am sure have started a nest somewhere close by.
Fishing yesterday afternoon seemed like it would be bleak at best. The air temperature was fifty one when I launched and there was drizzle once in a while, luckily there was little wind. The wildlife (and fish) more than made up for it though. As I passed up the river to Round Pond I came to a goose with a bunch of goslings. The goose gave me the broken wing act right off with lots of noise and show. I tried to explain that I had no interest in her goslings but it was no use.
