On one of the hot afternoons last week I enjoyed an excellent Nature Exploration trip with a family. They had been on the same trip four years ago. I don't remember the exact details of that last trip but the boys all had great memories to tell me about, right down to how many fish they each caught on that trip.
August marks the beginning of autumn, there are subtle signs. A red leaf here or there, a jacket in the morning, clear crisp days and falling water temperatures all indicate the gradual change of the seasons. The falling water temperatures make fish more active and encourage them to feed more actively.
After a stretch of hot (for us) and humid weather we are enjoying what I consider to be perfect summer. Overnight the temperatures are in the upper 50's and daytime highs in the 70's with very low humidity. Even the weather folks are calling this the best couple of weeks of the summer so far!
