Always interesting to be a guide!

One of interesting parts of being a guide that folks know is being asked for your opinion on a variety of outdoor topics. One of the recent requests was from the Bangor Daily News asking what things I keep in my vehicle in the winter. I drafted the response below and was surprised this week to see it as a full page in the winter 2015 BDN Outdoors magazine.

Ermine!

The days are short so the beginning and end of my days are in the dark. Yesterday morning as I came out of the garage in the dark and I caught something small rushing out of the door ahead of me. My first thought was oh no a rat! As I walked out and the light came on there it was a small white rocket with striking black eyes. An ermine, or really a weasel turned white for the winter.

Brrrr

Yes it is cold fourteen below here this morning and the high for the day was around five at a little after noon. On the up side it is supposed to be much warmer tomorrow. Argy and I went to Rockland this morning and the harbor was covered in sea smoke. The Rockland Breakwater Light was showing above the smoke with the water hidden from view, very pretty if cold.
