Late fall has an upside

We can see the sunrise! This time of year the days are short here in Maine. A rainy or snowy afternoon has the lights on in the house by three thirty or so in the afternoon and sunrise is at around seven AM. The sun rises further to the south every day which puts the sunrise directly in the view from the house and office. Something we cannot see in the summer as it rises out of our view.

Thinking about my roots

November is always a time of reflection for me; the season is for all intents and purposes over and there is a pause before my responsibilities as Executive Director of the Maine Professional Guides Association take most of my time. Yesterday I spoke to a Forest Resources class at the University of Maine about what I do and how I got started so very long ago.
