The weather in Maine usually turns markedly colder around Thanksgiving and this year was no exception. Temperatures have been well below normal all week and many of our lakes and ponds are already ice covered. I am usually able to get out for a little fishing in late November and early December. I tried on Wednesday I really did but the high for the afternoon was thirty one degrees with a northeasterly breeze and snow flurries.
I have been asked to present to a class on forest resources about a career in guiding as a possibility for them later this week. At the same time the Maine Professional guides Association has launched a new website that requires members to log in and update their own listings and information. As the Associations Executive Director I have been asked to work with the Guides Advisory Board on information that clients should get before they sign up with a guide.
I always like to reflect at this time of year and think about how fortunate I am. This fall Argy and I are traveling to Ohio to visit her 
aging mother. Traveling to a different part of the world is always a good way to put home in perspective and this trip is no different.
