The afternoon was much warmer than the recent days although cloudy there was no wind and a couple of feet of soft snow. Thought that I would get out on a brief winter exploration trip of my own, and see what the local wildlife had been up to.
This morning we have a little light snow falling with the forecast calling for ten to fourteen inches of new snow. Temperatures for the next week will be very cold (highs in the single numbers) and the wind will blow tomorrow on the back side of this storm. Many clients ask about winter in Maine and I tell them that we have ten days in the summer when it is too hot to go outside and ten days in the winter when it is too cold to go outside. Those ten winter days are here!
Last week a group of us went to Millinocket where we rented snowmobiles from the New England Outdoor Center planning to ride through Baxter State Park and return. This trip was perfect with lots of snow in the park and excellent riding conditions.
